鲁惟一(Michael Loewe, 1922- ),英国著名汉学家,被国内外学术界评价为“汉简研究中绕不开的人物”。先后就学于剑桥珀斯学校(The Perse School )和牛津大学曼达琳学院(Magdalen College)。二战期间,英国政府挑选了一批大学生,训练他们破译日本军方密码的能力,鲁惟一也被选为其中一员。二战结束后,一个政府机构派他到中国学习六个月的中文。1947年,他来到北京的英国领事馆,馆内的一个汉文秘书给他取了“鲁惟一”这个名字。1951年凭借其对中国汉代历史的杰出研究获得了伦敦大学亚非研究学院的最高荣誉奖,1963年获得了伦敦大学的博士学位。同年他进入剑桥大学执教,直到1990年退休。曾任剑桥大学东亚系主任,现为剑桥大学荣休教授。 1982年,鲁惟一被选为欧洲汉学协会(European Association of Chinese Studies)的副会长,也是《剑桥中国史·秦汉卷》主编之一。  鲁惟一专攻中国古代历史,在中国先秦史和秦汉史研究上贡献颇多,撰有多种有关中国古代历史和文化的著述,如《汉代行政记录》(Records of Han Administration,于振波、车今花译,桂林:广西师范大学出版社,2005年)、主编的《中国古代典籍导读》(Early Chinese Texts:a Bibliographical Guide,李学勤等译,沈阳:辽宁教育出版社,1997年)等。另有:《走向天堂之路:中国探索长生之道》(Ways to Paradise:ne Chinese Quest for Immortality)、《占卜、神话和君主制在中国汉代》(Divination, Mythology and Monarchy in Han China)等文章。
